Guidelines in Evaluating Advertisements

1 .What is the product or service being sold? Can you easily figure out what the product is?
• In the first ads that I watch the service that being sold is that the Thai life insurance these service is to be trusted life partner who give more value to people of society by truly take care people’s life with true sincerity without wishing for anything in return. The second ads which is Jollibee commercial series the main intention of Jollibee is to tell its product that are cooked in just a few minutes behind it’s kitchen in the ads show about the “Vow” that was effective in accumulating intended traffic from the reactions gives by those who watched. The third, ads which is the McDonald’s-BF GF FRIES that they show is about the French fries of McDonald with the price of 25.00. The last ads which is about the LBC Spelling Bee Remittance this commercial is a service which is the students spelling contest who spell the words “remittance” “affordable” and Instant as LBC. However, the different nature of business advertisement can twist into easily to understand just a blink or not it depends also to the watchers ages and IQ.

  1. What is the general mood or feeling of the commercial? Since we know the product or service being sold, what methods are the advertisers using to make us interested? How do they portray the product or service in a positive light?
    • The general mood for those advertisement is touchy that wake up the emotional mood of the viewers which provoke of love, family bonding and honesty. The methods used for those advertisements is Emotional Appeal which 1st shows need for change of old things and need to become attractive, 2nd need for something new and need for getting acceptance, 3rd need for getting acceptance and 4th need for security, over all of the advertisements it can attracts interest to the viewers. They portray it by shows the importance of goodness/ kindness to each other with love and care.
  2. How does the soundtrack play a role in your interpretation of the commercial? Is the music cheery, dreary, suspenseful, whimsical, fun, or exciting? Does the music affect our perception of the mood? Is there a voice-over of someone telling us something? What is the voice over trying to tell us? Does the person speaking coincide with the overall mood of the commercial? Would our perception of the voice change if the voice was of a different gender or race?
    • The soundtrack had a big impact to the listener (viewers) as they are in the momentum of climax of the advertisements. I consider that music as cheery, suspenseful and fun as my emotions trigger on it. Yes, it affects the viewers and I that emotions deliverance on the advertisement story or the story line. It took me to think the importance of goodness, love and value of each other. Yes, it shows the lesson learned or the theme of advertisement. Yes, it can contrast our perception thought in the advertisement.
  3. How do the actors playing the characters affect your interpretation of the commercial? Would your interpretation change if the characters were of a different race or gender? What if the characters dressed differently or spoke differently? How would that change your perception of the character?
    • The commercial characters affect my emotional thoughts and feelings. Probably yes it can change the mode or insights if ever the commercial characters have different race or gender. If ever the commercial characters shifting with different personality it can plays big role towards the viewers and I emotions to render. The perceptions I might have that the commercial characters may have different faces of behaviors or personality in situations they faces or experiences, the inner and outer emotions may reflect they different to be shows.
  4. How does the commercial try to get your attention? Does it use flashy graphics with fast music? Does it alter the way we see the world, either through the use of special effects or through the story line?
    • The commercial get my attention in the methods of Emotional Appeal reflects to life time happening. As I observed definitely Yes because in the times of climax situations the products reveals with brand icon on it. Basis of my experience is the story line which “tagos” in the heart that can makes a sense in the reality esp. when it talks love and care.
  5. Who is this commercial aimed towards? Is it you or someone like you? How do you know? Why do you think the advertiser created this commercial the way they did? Would it have been as effective if it was just black and white text on the screen? Why or why
    • The commercials aimed is to public their products and brand icon to the society. It we for those who can avail the products or services offered. We, the member of the community know who can avail those products and services as it notify of the products or services purpose. Maybe, having black and white as one of the viewers I can’t appreciate the products or service offered in the advertisement or it not convincing.
  6. Do the ads follow the culture and values of Filipino? Which part?
    • Yes, it shows the hospitability, kindness, love and care which Filipinos has. If we’ve just got an extra, we give it, for me however; most parts of the presentation were in relevant to an example.
  7. Is there a negative issue about the ads? Which part?
    • They were relatively harmful to children who are learning, especially in the LBC advertising. Hearing that you were asked to spell remittance, you will reply to the LBC’s service itself. It will in turn impact the children’s learning with that simple word. When Edu Mansano as the host of spelling bee asking the kid to spell remittance the cute little boy spelled remittance as capital LBC it can drawn negative reaction from public for conveying a wrong message.

The experience I had through online class that communicating by the help of the internet access in the matter of teacher-student interaction of the subject. As the receiver (student) it can’t easy to understand well the sender (teacher) once to relay in the Google meet because there is the interference of the signal of data load internet access that sometimes the delaying or short deliverances of the message towards me as student. To be student a pressure me occur with looks like me that can’t easily understand especially in speaking dollar way but trying my best. The factors that affect my online class are the noisy of the neighbors and animals (chicken and dogs). As I observe at my own self I can’t let anybody know me well of who am I in a class it teach me to cover your behavior but in a new normal I need to adjust and accept the reality so far. As the emotions it gives you happy, anger, build a patience and discouragement sometimes. Overall, all I can do is to understand everything and have communication well to my mentor and co-students.
